Convention is back in the District this year, and the annual celebration of psychology is a mere two weeks away!
Convention is packed with incredible sessions and presentations, so many it can often be overwhelming to choose what to do or where to go. We’ve created a blueprint for those interested in education-related activities and sessions. Professional organizations are great resources for people already working in a field, but it turns out that they’re great for students, too! As I-O psychologists, our field bridges the gap between so many different specialty areas that it can be tough to find all the different organizations that can provide the best resources for us. The best place to start is the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), of course!
Industrial-organizational psychologists research and apply principles of psychology to the world of work. Their mission is to identify and apply techniques that benefit not only employers, but also employees. In general, the more efficient an organization is (be it a for-profit corporation, non-profit agency, or government entity) the more all stakeholders benefit.
